Castrojeriz

María Beatriz Francés Pérez

Castrojeriz is located in Burgos, in the region of Odra-Pisuerga. This beautiful village in Burgos is on the route of the Pilgrim's Way to Santiago de Compostela, which it crosses longitudinally, making it the longest crossing of the Pilgrim's Way to Santiago de Compostela. Among its extensive heritage is the Palace of the Counts of Castro, a Gothic style building in which we find a beautiful door from the 16th century. In the village of Castrojeriz we also find the Virgen del Manzano Church, which began to be built in 1214 and currently houses the Museum of Sacred Art, where we can find medieval carvings, Flemish paintings, parchments and pieces of gold and silver work.
